AMELIA FURLONG | WRITER + PHOTOGRAPHER

Amelia Furlong (she/her) is a multi-media artist, photographer, writer, and zine maker based in Lisbon, Portugal. She received her BA in Creative Writing from Middlebury College and her MA in Writing from the University of Galway. Her essays, fiction, and poetry have appeared in publications in the United States, Ireland, and Portugal. She is working on her debut novel.

A self-taught photographer, Amelia works exclusively in film. She is interested in the tactile nature of the medium, experimental printing processes, and how the two can be combined to create new frontiers in analogue photography.
Her work is primarily in fine art nudes, erotic portraiture, and self-portraiture. Her current projects explore how gender, aging, kink, and nontraditional family structures intersect to create complex relationships with the body, therefore she often incorporates movement as a means of capturing the liminality of shifting identities.
Amelia's photo book Boys in White Dresses was featured at the 13th Annual Lisbon Photo Book Fair in 2023, and her work was exhibited in Oitava Casa's Vulnerabilidade Masculina in May 2024.
